One exact size for one image or a whole set
Pixcon crops each image around its center to the width and height you enter, as long as the image is large enough. This suits thumbnails, profile pictures and product photos that must all have the same size.
There is no editor for dragging a crop frame: the crop is always centered.

How Pixcon decides what to keep
When the image is large enough, Pixcon first scales it down to the smallest size that still covers the crop size. Then it trims the rest equally from both sides.
- Image at least as large as the crop size: the result has exactly the width and height you entered.
- Image smaller than the crop size: never enlarged, so the result is smaller than requested.
- ICO and PDF output: "Crop" is not offered for these formats.
Common sizes for square, 16:9 and 4:5 images
Pixcon crops to a size in pixels. To get a certain shape, enter a width and a height in that ratio.
- 1:1, square
- 1080 × 1080 px
- 16:9, landscape
- 1920 × 1080 px
- 4:5, portrait
- 1080 × 1350 px
Tips for cropping
- Keep the main subject near the middle of the photo.
- For product photos, use one crop size no larger than the smallest photo, so all results match.
- For an icon, first crop the image to a square such as 256 × 256, then convert it to ICO. A non-square image gives a non-square icon.
- ICO files are not cropped when the format is kept. To crop an icon, choose PNG in "Convert to:".
Questions about cropping images
Can I choose which part of the image to keep?
No. Pixcon always keeps the center of the image and trims the edges equally on both sides.
How do I crop an image to a square?
Enter the same value in "Width:" and "Height:", for example 1080. Pixcon cuts the square from the center of each image. The result is an exact square when both sides of the image are at least that long.
What happens if my image is smaller than the crop size?
Pixcon does not enlarge it. A side that is too short keeps its length, and only the other side is trimmed. An image smaller in both directions keeps its size.
Can I crop many photos to the same size at once?
Yes. Add all photos in one upload, and Pixcon crops each one to the width and height you entered, as long as the photo is large enough.
What is the difference between Crop and Resize?
"Crop" fills the exact size when the image is large enough and trims the edges, so nothing is stretched. "Resize" keeps the whole picture and fits it into the size, or stretches it when "Maintain Aspect Ratio" is off.
