PDF pages as pictures you can share
Convert PDF to JPG when a document page has to go where only pictures are accepted. Typical places are chats, social posts, slides and upload forms that ask for an image. Pixcon renders every page of the PDF as a separate JPG image.
- Share one page of a menu, a flyer or a ticket in a chat.
- Put a page from a report into a presentation as an image.
- Upload a scanned form to a site that accepts only JPG files.
What you get back from a PDF to JPG conversion
- One-page PDF
- One JPG file.
- Multi-page PDF
- One ZIP archive with one JPG per page. Each file name contains the page number.
- Pages converted
- Every page of the document.
- Resolution
- 150 DPI. Only very large pages get a lower DPI, so that each image stays within 20,000 px per side and 100 megapixels.
- Background
- White. Pixcon places every page on a white background.
- Compression
- Lossy JPG compression. "Optimize images" sets how strong it is.
- Largest PDF
- 50 MB per file.
Settings for clear and compact JPG pages
- "Optimize images" is on by default and compresses the JPG pages more strongly, so the files are smaller and easier to send.
- Turn "Optimize images" off when small print must stay as clear as possible. Pixcon then saves the pages at a higher JPG quality, and the files are larger.
- Very long or complex documents can stop with the message "This PDF is too large to convert. Try a shorter document." Split such a PDF into shorter parts and convert the parts one by one.
- When text and thin lines must keep every rendered pixel, convert the PDF to PNG with "Optimize images" off instead.
Questions about turning PDF pages into JPG
How do I convert a multi-page PDF to JPG?
Upload the whole PDF. Pixcon converts all pages and returns one ZIP archive that holds one JPG for each page. Unpack the archive on your device to get the separate pictures.
What resolution do the JPG pages have?
Pixcon renders PDF pages at 150 DPI, so an A4 page becomes a JPG of about 1240 × 1754 px. Only very large pages are rendered at a lower DPI to stay within the image size limit.
Can I convert only one page of a PDF?
Not directly. Pixcon always converts all pages, so a multi-page PDF is returned as a ZIP archive. Open the archive and keep the JPG whose file name contains the page number you need.
Why did my PDF fail to convert?
A PDF can fail when rendering all its pages would take too long, and Pixcon then shows "This PDF is too large to convert. Try a shorter document." Split such a PDF into shorter parts. Damaged files and files larger than the limit listed above cannot be converted either.
Should I convert PDF pages to JPG or to PNG?
Choose JPG for pages you want to send, post or upload, and keep "Optimize images" on for smaller files. Choose PNG when text and thin lines must stay exactly as rendered. With "Optimize images" off, Pixcon saves PNG pages losslessly, while JPG compression is always lossy.
